NASB | Isaiah 65:20 "No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, Or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 65:20 "No longer shall there be in it an infant who lives only a few days, Or an old man who does not finish his days; For the youth who dies at the age of a hundred, And the one who does not reach the age of a hundred Will be thought of as accursed. |
Bible Question: Verse 17 says God will create new heavens and a new earth. This verse makes it sound like there will be death. How can this be, in light of Revelation 21:4? |
Bible Answer: Steve, I can see why this is confusing. Isa 65:17 seems to refer to the eternal state when the "new heaven and new earth' exist, but the rest of the passage is millennial. Rev 21:4 is the eternal state. No one dies in eternity. In the millennium, life spans are greatly extended, (with the possibility of not dying at all) but death is still a possibility.
