Bible Question:
Why is Ephraim considered as the first born son of God? Jeremiah 31:9b " I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son. " |
Bible Answer: Hi tongsui, Jeremiah 31:2-14 are messianic kingdom conditions. I see Ephraim as a type of Christ in Jeremiah 31:9b. I like the NKJ for this passage of verses 7-9. Jeremiah 31:9, "...For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn." Verse 7b gives the subject of the passage, "Proclaim, give praise, and say, 'O Lord, save Thy people, The remnant of Israel.'" The thing of importance for me to see is that He is a Father to us now, yes, even NOW. Isaiah 64:9, "Behold, look now, all of us are Thy people." Isaiah 64:8, "But NOW, O Lord, Thou art our Father [sic], We are the clay and Thou our potter; And ALL OF US are the work of Thy hand." The Lord will always have His remnant. From the heart, Ray |
