NASB | Isaiah 44:2 Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you, 'Do not fear, O Jacob My servant; And you Jeshurun whom I have chosen. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 44:2 This is what the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you says, 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And Jeshurun (Israel, the upright one) whom I have chosen. [Deut 32:15; 33:5, 26] |
Bible Question: Why is Israel referred to as "Jeshurun" and what is the significance of that? |
Bible Answer: Nolan, Jeshurun is another name for Isreal which occurs only in poetry. Jeshurun is considered to be a term of endearment that may emphasize its root meaning of "upright". In this verse it is concerning the redemption and restoration of Isreal (according to Eerdmans Bible Dictionary). Another source that I have says that it refers to the people of Isreal. prayon |
