Bible Question: What references other than the first chapter of Genesis explain why God created people? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Doug... Welcome to the forum! Everything that God does is for His own glory (Proverbs 16:4; Isaiah 43:21; Romans 11:36; Revelation 4:11). The awesome thing is that Scripture teaches that we were made to reflect His glory (2 Corinthians 3:18; Matthew 5:16; John 15:8; Philippians 2:15; 1 Thessalonians 2:12, et al). Mind boggling, isn't it? Johnathan Edwards has a wonderful exposition addressing this question: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/edwards/works1.iv.iv.i.html I'm rather partial to Edwards, so I' encourage you to read that chapter. It is a pretty exhaustive treatment regarding the purpose of creation. In Him, Doc |
