Bible Question:
In Isaiah 43:14 God referred to Babylonians. How would I apply that in present day terms? What do Babylonians represent? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Called... You are assuming that everything in the Scripture represents something different from itself. This way of approaching the Scriptures stems from thinkers in Alexandria. It seeks to find "the true" and "hidden" truth behind any passage. So, ask yourself, why would Babylonians be anything but Babylonians, especially if we are not told elsewere in Scripture that they are to be considered anything else? Sound hermeneutics seeks to determine exactly what the author was saying to a particular audience at the time it was written. Understand that first! Then, you can look for the ways to apply the truth revealed to the original readers to us today. In Him, Doc |
