Bible Question: On the verse Is. 39:8, why wasn't Hezekiah devastated over Judah's coming capivity? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mrs. Shives! "39:8 word of the LORD... good. A surprising response to the negative prophecy of vv. 5-7! It perhaps acknowledged Isaiah as God's faithful messenger. peace and truth in my days. Hezekiah perhaps reacted selfishly, or perhaps he looked for a bright spot to lighten the gloomy fate of his descendants." (1) Its hard for me to see Hezekiah not acting anything but selfishly here, since there is no record afterwards of his mourning for what will come to pass.
