NASB | Isaiah 3:12 O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray And confuse the direction of your paths. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Isaiah 3:12 O My people! Children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Your leaders lead you astray And confuse (destroy, swallow up) the direction of your paths. |
Bible Question:
"My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them." Is this figuritive or what. I don't know why, but this verse struck me as odd, almost contemporary. |
Bible Answer: "Their oppressors are children," Refers to King Ahaz, who came to the throne at age 20,(2 Kings 16:2) and probably served as regent during the last years of Jotham. "And women rule over them." Refers to the Judeans' unhappy memories of the rule of Athaliah, the queen mother (2 Kings 11:1-16). From the Jerome Biblical Commentary. However, I won't argue the point you made. Emmaus |
