NASB | Song of Solomon 2:12 'The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Song of Solomon 2:12 'The flowers appear on the earth once again; The time for singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. |
Subject: turtle-dove |
Bible Note: In the KJV it says "the voice of the turtle" which has caused some Bible critics to scoff. The NASB is correct in this regard and the Hebrew does mean "turtle-dove". Shakespeare also wrote a play (A Winter's Tale) in 1611 in which he talked ab't the cooing of turtles that will never part. |
