Bible Question: If God already has your life planned, why bother to pray? For example; if a loved one is sick and you pray for their recovery but God's will is for this loved one to die, aren't you praying against God's will, so why bother? |
Bible Answer: Hi, joy! There are many doctrines out there... it seems that some people love to feel security even more than listening to God's Word! We are the elect, in Jesus, not that our lives are written down to the nanosecond of our temporal existence... but that we are Saved in Jesus! We are made God's children, in Jesus. We have Life, in Jesus! Regardless of how many times people may tell you that we do not need to do things... or that we must do what they say... remember Jesus' Word: The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:35-36) It is our choice that condemns or liberates us, not God since God offers us Life in Jesus: "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. (John 12:47-49) So in keeping with Jesus' command to listen to the Word, here's what He says about praying: Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' " And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:1-8) God Bless! Angel |
