Bible Question: Where can I find in the bible that you should mourn with birth and rejoice in death? |
Bible Answer: Ecclesiastes 7:1-2 (1) A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. (2) It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. This was Soloman's summation of a life spent pursuing everything else but God. If you choose to devote your life to anything but God, you might as well be dead. A sad state of affairs for the wisest, richest, arguably most powerful and respected man who ever lived. But it's even worse for us when we have his example and don't take it to heart. The only life worth living is the life of Christ lived through us (Gal. 2:20). Love in Christ, Mark |
