Bible Question (short): Should we choose our words carefully? |
Question (full): Eccl 5:2 Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few. (NASB) Has anyone ever pondered on this verse? It seems in Ecclesiates a "teacher" who is talking to a disciple on the realities of the world. This bit of advice may be what the teacher is telling the disciple to do. We are all disciples of our Lord and I regard this advice as counsel to all of us. Does this come across to instruct us to be aware of His holiness and to wise with our petitions, not using redundancy (Matt.6:7), or just not to be too wordy as we are warned in Proverbs 10:19 ("when there are many words, transgression is unadvoidable"). Can anyone contribute to this dialog? In His Name, PJC |
