Bible Question:
I really need some good Biblical direction. My 18 yr old son is seeing a 27 yr old woman with a young child, who is unmarried. We have told him we forbid this and he wants a Biblical precedent! He lives at home with us. He can't see why this relationship is wrong,...all we could tell him is that it is UNHEALTHY and entirely inappropriate.... Does anyone have a good few verses I could share with him that would relate to this situation? We, his parents, are distressed about this and feel it is harmful to our son who is only graduating from high school in two weeks. Thank you!!! This girl/woman was going to go to his prom with him....we found out and put a stop to it, so obviously she cannot even possibly be emotionally healthy and to boot, I certainly do not think she is a Christian. HELP!!! (My son works with her) |
Bible Answer: I hope this helps some: Is your son saved/born-again? Is the woman saved/born-again? If either one is, the Bible says: Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers. Also it says what fellowship does light (Christ-like) have to do with darkness (sinner). The marriage is undefiled (to be saved until married) Prayerfully acknowledging God first. As a mother, you may want to pick up the book "The Power of a Praying Mother" by Stormie Omartian. Pray that God surrounds your son with Godly friends; also that the woman if unsaved, get saved and come to knowledge and understanding of who God is and not man. Some ungodly soul ties have developed between them and you two as parents can only pray and allow God Almighty to diffuse the situation. First and foremost you must forgive him and her, and repent before God, and then go to God (boldly) declaring the word of God over your son and the young lady and her child. Remember Jesus prayed for all. So must we. God is only developing you two in your love and prayer walk. If you are hurting, think how much your son is hurting. He went to her looking for love, consulation or just an ear to listen to what his heart is saying. Ask God to give you a listening ear. HELP HIM! I know its painful, but give it to God and pray him through it. |
