Bible Question:
I really need some good Biblical direction. My 18 yr old son is seeing a 27 yr old woman with a young child, who is unmarried. We have told him we forbid this and he wants a Biblical precedent! He lives at home with us. He can't see why this relationship is wrong,...all we could tell him is that it is UNHEALTHY and entirely inappropriate.... Does anyone have a good few verses I could share with him that would relate to this situation? We, his parents, are distressed about this and feel it is harmful to our son who is only graduating from high school in two weeks. Thank you!!! This girl/woman was going to go to his prom with him....we found out and put a stop to it, so obviously she cannot even possibly be emotionally healthy and to boot, I certainly do not think she is a Christian. HELP!!! (My son works with her) |
Bible Answer: EyOADove: This is a problem that you need your Pastors help with. If this were your daughter who was 18 and it was a man with a child and he was 27 what would you do? If he lives under your roof he either abides by the house rules or there are consequences! He is 18 and by now he pretty much sets his own mind on what he can do. Have you gone and talked with this woman? I sympathize with you, and this is not a healthy relationship for sure. I kind of wonder if this is not a sexual thing he believes like the movies teach sex brings love. I hope it has not gone that far, but odds are it has. I would not take much time to bring this to some clear understanding. At 18 he is pretty much legally able to do as he wishes. Get some pastoral involvement to help him listen, because he most likely is not listening to you. justem |
