Bible Question: is it a sin to think of having intercourse with wife in mind. suppose my wife is at far and i am imagining of having intercourse in my mind |
Bible Answer: Hi, Rajeeb... The Gnostics and Ascetics used to deny the appropriateness of any physical pleasure. Their thinking influenced much of Christianity over the centuries -- it even lies at the root of things like Monastism (cf 1 Timothy 4:1-3). However, such an idea is alien to the Scriptures. God created us to enjoy what is appropriately ours to enjoy. The enjoyment of what He has given us overlaps in our affections, our thoughts, and our bodies. Certainly that is true relative to the delight of the blessing of marriage (1 Corinthians 7:3-5). The problem arises when we desire something that does not rightly belong to us. In Him, Doc |
