Bible Question: what does it mean to be tried by fire? |
Bible Answer: John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] Tried by fire is an expression some people use to indicate that they have gained victory over certain trials, struggles or tribulation that God allowed them to endure. Perhaps God uses these events, circumstance etc. to remove the sin nature (the willingness to sin). The experience is called being tried by fire with unction from God. It’s a process of refinement making one a better person in God’s eyes. He is the one who controls the fire during life’s purification. |
