Bible Question:
v4) What was Jesus trying to demonstrate about himself with the command "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch" v8)Peter's reaction: Why does he respond in this way? Does Jesus refer to Peter as Simon when Peter acts as his old self - is Peter called Peter when he behaves as a disciple? How would you describe the power of the person of Jesus? |
Bible Answer: Greetings! You have asked a lot of questions for one post! I'm wondering about a connection to Jesus' command and this Proverb. Something to think about. What I'd like to address is your differentiation between Peter and Simon. I see no reason to suggest that our behavior prompts God to call us anything other than who we are in Christ: an adopted son/daughter; a joint hier with Christ, beloved of the Father, etc. Yes, we are new creations in Jesus, (Gal 6:5; 2 Cor 5:17)yet we still have the old sin nature living within. (Rom 7) But since we are forgiven and our sins are removed from us as far as the east is from the west (Ps 103:12)why would God ever remind us of who were were without Him? Just wondering . . . mommapbs |
