AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 18:9 He who is careless in his work Is a brother to him who destroys. |
Bible Question:
Why is this phrase included in the Amplified and not in any other translations? The note in the Bible states “This verse so reads in the Septuagint Version….” I would like to find a Septuagint translation that has this in it and a English translation word for word or a Strongs number for each word. If anyone can shed some light on this phrase I would greatly appreciate it. I am doing a study on healing and this would add a very important element. Also if there are any other scriptures that deal with healing in this manor please let me know. Thank you, adcdhome |
Bible Answer: o (the 3588) mh (not 3361) iOmenos (heals 2390) auton/eauton (himself 1438) en (by 1722) tois (the 3588) ergois (work 2041) autou (of himself 846) adelfos (brother 80) esti/estin (is 1510) tou (of the 3588) lumainomenou (one destroying 3075) eauton (himself 1438) I got the Strongs numbers for the verse in the lexicon from the interlinear at www.studylight.org but had to look at Acts 8:3 for strong number for lumaninomenou. There are some slight differences between the printed Brenton (1851 Ninth reprint in 2001 by Hendrickson 0-913573-44-2) and the copy on www.studylight.org the word before a slash is from Brenton. You can find different Septuagint texts at http://www.kalvesmaki.com/LXX/Texts.htm#Translations . If you want a printed copy of a book in the Septuagint that has a critical apparatus I suggest you see if the Göttingen series copy is ready. |
