Bible Question: What is spiritual pride? Is it a sin to be proud of one's knowledge of the Bible? |
Bible Answer: Greetings! Good question and Hank gave you an excellent answer! I'd like to add something else for you to consider. This is what God says we should boast about: . . .but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD. Jer 9:24 Might this be the ONLY form of pride that God approves of? But, can we ever really boast that we fully know and understand God? The more I come to know Him, the less I know - I know! (See Isa 55:8-9) I suspect that knowing who we are in Christ is the only thing we can "be proud of" and at that, we are proud of HIM who gave Himself for us! Just some thoughts. mommapbs |
