Bible Question: does God care if you have a clean house or is over weight and lazy |
Bible Answer: Greetings Sista Donna, Exodus 40:30-32 says that Moses and Aaron washed their hands and their feet before they approached the altar, just as the Lord commanded them. The Lord commanded them to wash their hands! Washing a traveler's feet was a sign of respect (Genesis 18:4; 19:2; 43:24) as well as cleanliness, and "those with clean hands will grow stronger" (Job 17:9, NIV). Proper cleanliness was part of preparation for worship (2 Samuel 12:20) and a priestly requirement (Isaiah 52:11). Perhaps if you wash with soap (Jeremiah 2:22) and use laundry soap (Malachi 3:2) for clothes that are white (Ecclesiastes 9:8), then you will be pronounced clean (Leviticus 13:6) and won't need to shave (Numbers 8:7)! But we also read that outward purity (Matthew 23:26) does not always indicate that a 'spiritual washing' has taken place (Hebrews 10:22), and that our scarlet color has changed to be as white as snow (Isaiah 1:18). Therefore, let us all take this time to wash our hands, pick up around the house, and examine ourselves to make sure we are clean and blameless towards God in regards to sin. :) Blessings to you, Makarios |
