Bible Question:
Can God Bless America? "If God were to bless America as everybody seems to want Him to do, it might look very different than we would expect. "Will God bless America? "Can God bless America? Should God bless America? "And if God did bless America, what would He be saying about His holiness? If God did bless America, what would He be saying about our morality? About our spiritual condition? "Could God bless America and protect His reputation as holy God" (John MacArthur)? |
Bible Answer: kalos, Yes, God can and has blessed America abundantly. Look at our standard of living compared to the rest of the world. I've pondered this considerably since 9/11 and my brief thoughts are this: Some in our Evangelical community have opined that we are being "judged" by God. I don't believe this, especially in light of John 5:22 "For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son.." This judgement is to occur in the future (2. Cor. 5:10,Rev. 20:11ff). Despite out moral decline and many faults ,we still have freedoms beyond what most dream of. This is a major blessing! The many references in Proverbs speak multitudes to our spritual condition and moral turpitude of our leaders. Sin is sin, so I make no excuse for it from a national standpoint. However, from a comparative position, are we any worse than say, Russia or China, etc? Very little is mentioned of the systematic extermination of MILLIONS of their own people! I do see our country in rapid moral and cultural decline. To the best of my knowledge, the US does not enter in to prophecy- and I believe this due to our ceding of sovereingty to a World Gov't (UN). We will cease to exist as a nation in the future! Praise God that He has blessed US, with all the spiritual blessings in Christ! (Eph.1:3) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
