NASB | Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made fat. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 13:4 The soul (appetite) of the lazy person craves and gets nothing [for lethargy overcomes ambition], But the soul (appetite) of the diligent [who works willingly] is rich and abundantly supplied. [Prov 10:4] |
Bible Question:
is there anywhere in the bible that states or says anything like: God helps those who help themselves? |
Bible Answer: No! The saying God helps those who help themselves is a lie from the pit. God is clearly seen as our strength when we are weak, our hope when we are hopless and our defender when we are helpless. However that said, let me say, George clearly shows this does not give us license to sit around and do nothing waiting for God. Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return." Proverbs 15:19 The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway. Proverbs 14:23 In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty. EdB |
