Bible Note: Dear Eklektos, Not quite. When comparing the moral abilities and inclination of man there are three states: (1) The State of Innocency (Pre-Fall) (2) The State of Bondage (Post-Fall) (3) The State of Grace (Regenerate Man) (4) The State of Glory (In the Presence of God) Man's moral ability and his inclination to good and evil vary depending on his particular state. These observations are part of a branch of theology called anthropology. They are called the fourfold state of man. Augustine was the first to articulate these Scriptural distinctions. You can use Google to find much discussion of them. Wading through Augustine's Enchiridion, however, takes quite a bit of effort. In Him, Doc |
