AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 1:23 "If you will turn and pay attention to my rebuke, Behold, I [Wisdom] will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. [Is 11:2; Eph 1:17-20] |
Bible Question:
I would like to talk about the spirit of wisdom. Proverbs 1:20, "Wisdom shouts in the street, *She lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city, she utters her sayings:..." The writing style of the NASB leaves the *She that I starred in question, but the she should agree with the other "she" and "her" words. I think that a good verse to compare/contrast with Proverbs 1:23 would be Isaiah 44:3. Isaiah 44:3, "For I will pour out My *Spirit on your offspring, And My blessing on your descendants." I would put the Spirit that I *starred in lower case with the idea of pouring out of the spirit and blessing from the Spirit of God. Does that help us to understand the spirit of wisdom? What are your thoughts? From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Hi, Ray! I liken the spirit of wisdom to the gifts of the spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-11); but this is not the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:6-16; John 14:15-17, 25-26; 16:7-11; Hebrews 3:7-11). Sadly, there are those who would want to silence the Truth about the Holy Spirit and demote Him to an electric current that has energy or even to simple human knowledge and reason. They read Proverbs 1:20 and appease themselves saying: "...see, it's only a good feeling, a thing God gives us (or something to that effect)." They ignore every Biblical passage that declares that the Holy Spirit is God! (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God Bless! |
