Bible Question:
I often run through the genealogies rather quickly, but this verse jumped out at me. Interesting that the Bible mentions things like this without any moralizing gloss. Thus, out of sinful decisions, God raises the greatest leaders of his people. Any thoughts on this? |
Bible Answer: At the time as far as we know God had not yet issued any prohibition against incest. It is thought that the gene pool of man was so strong, not yet weakened by the ravages of sin, that the negative results of incest hadn't been seen. This evidently was quickly changing because when God gave the Children of Israel the Law, a standard to live by a prohibition of incest was included. EdB |
