Bible Question: In this particular verse, did God make him ill, to kill him. Because of his disobedience? Not wanting to go to king of Egypt.- will God do the same if we are not doing His Will? My second question why did God make the king of Egypt stubborn, was it to display His power through the plagues? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Hadassah-ruth... Had God intended Moses to die, Moses would have died. The Scripture often speaks phenomenologically, using common human speech. (For example, we talk about the sun rising (Genesis 32:31), even though we know it is the movement of the earth, not the sun, the causes the phenomenon we observe.) Death is a pretty universal experience. With the exception of Enoch, Elijah, and the believers who will be living at the resurrection (Revelation 20:6), it touches everyone (Ecclesiastes 2:16). God is ultimately in control of life and death (Deuteronomy 32:39). There are passages that, to some, seem to imply that an unfruitful believer may be removed, for his own benefit and that of the church (1 Corinthians 3). Regarding Pharaoh, the "why" question has been answered for us. "For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, 'For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.'"
