NASB | Exodus 31:14 'Therefore you are to observe the sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 31:14 'Therefore, you shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does work on the Sabbath, that person (soul) shall be cut off from among his people [excluding him from the atonement made for them]. |
Bible Question: Is the Sabbath relavent to today? Should we be keeping the Sabbath day holy. I believe everyday should be kept surrendered to the Lord, but should there be one day of rest to reflect on the holiness and awesomeness of our Lord? I see it mentioned in the old and new testiment. Thanks in advance, Terri |
Bible Answer: Terri, No, the Sabbath is not relevant today. Why? 1. It was given to the OT Jews. 2. It was part of the Law which we, as believers, are no longer under. 3. We have entered a permanent Sabbath rest (Heb 4:1) where every day is a day of resting in Christ's completed work. Colossians 2:16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- Hope this helps. ChristLifer2001 |
