Bible Question:
When God spoke to moses with the burning bush. Can you tell me what kind of bush it was? This is a question we are to try to find out for sunday school. Thank You |
Bible Answer: Hi, Apple... The Hebrew root of this word actually means a bramble or thorny bush. From what I've read that means it was likely a wild acacia bush. Apparently the acacia tends to catch fire quite easily. I suppose it is like the juniper brush common in central Texas. Consequently, it was all that more marvelous that this bush was "burning" without being consumed. Incidently, this was also the same plant that yielded the wood from which the ark was made. This is only an observation. It would be speculation to assert that this latter fact was necessarily related to the event we are discussing. In Him, Doc |
