AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 28:35 "Aaron shall wear the robe when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes [alone] into the Holy Place before the LORD, and when he comes out, so that he will not die there. |
Bible Question: What is the significance of the HIgh priest (like Aaron in the old Testament) having to have the hem of his garment lined with pomegranates (Exodus 28:33)? |
Bible Answer: From Jewish history we know they tied a rope around the waist of the priest before he entered the holy place. This was done as precaution. If for some reason, like unconfessed sin, the Lord would strike him dead the lack of noise from the bells and pomegranates would tell those outside he was dead and to pull him out. Going into the presence of the Lord is serious business. Not to be taken lightly as we do today. EdB |
