Subject: What are firstfruits |
Bible Note: Hi, Momma... I'm afraid I've never dug deep into eschatology. I suppose it is because I've never been fully persuaded by any of the arguments. Besides which, there's just so much to study in everything else! :-) "Firstfruit" in terms of Christ is that He is the first to be ressurected from the dead and glorified. Firstfruit speaks of the initial and the best -- sometimes in a literal way, and sometimes in a metaphorical way. I believe that James is using it in the latter sense. Consequently I cannot speak to the identification of the redeemed mentioned in Revelation 14. Beyond what the chapter says intself about these saints, I am certain that they are from among those mentioned in Revelation 7:9. If I said much more than that, I'd be on the shakey ground of sheer speculation. In Him, Doc |
