NASB | Exodus 16:3 The sons of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died by the LORD'S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 16:3 and the Israelites said to them, "Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger." |
Bible Question: When Moses and the Isrealites were in the wilderness the people complained they wanted meat ro eat. Why didn't they slaughter some of their stock and eat that? |
Bible Answer: The number of Israelites in the desert is estimated to numbered well over a million. If they began to eat their herds they would have nothing to establish livestock when they got to the promise land. Plus I imagine the live stock did supply milk and other by products which it could not if it was eaten. Even a large herd would be quickly eaten by over a million people. |
