NASB | Exodus 16:3 The sons of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died by the LORD'S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 16:3 and the Israelites said to them, "Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger." |
Bible Question: In Exodus 16:3 it says that the Isrealite said that they had sat by their fleshpots (pots filled with meat) in Egypt and ate till they were full. In verse 12 it says that the Lord provided them with meat. Why did He have to provide them with meat? They had all their herds with them. Why couldn't they get the meat from their own herds? prayon |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Exo 11:32, 15:24; Num 11:5 ... Prayon, I think they liked to grumble. It started in Exodus 15:24. I see the word 16 times when related to Israel. They did have their flocks and herds (Exo 11:32) and may not of wanted to eat them ... -they were to bring them to Canaan -there was no wasy to prepare them -they wanted God to prepare their food ... so He did. There is a list of things they looked back to Egypt (Num 11:5) ... The questions are do we look back and long for our former life or want God to do everything for us? IMHO, Searcher |
