AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 12:29 ¶ Now it happened at midnight that the LORD struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the cattle. |
Bible Question: In exodus 12:29-30 all firstborn was to be killed...did that only include children? if not--why didn't the pharaoh and many others die? |
Bible Answer: Hello bravostarr Some have put forth theories that these were only the children or only the children born that year. But verse 30 seems to indicate that death was in every house which means adults died as well. The only explanation I have for Pharaoh living through it is that he was not the firstborn, but he was the oldest living son. His older brother had already died. Steve |
