Bible Question:
Why did God let Israelites go with the wealth that they borrowed from Egypt?I mean what's the revelation or mystery behind it? Refrences:(Exodus 11:2-3 "Speak now in the ears of the people, and let them ask every man of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold. And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.) (Exodus 12:35-36 "And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they asked of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. And they spoiled the Egyptians.") |
Bible Answer: Dear conqueror, I believe it is, on one hand, because of God's grace on Israelites as you can find in verse 3 that you cited: "The LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians..." On the other hand, it is part of God's justice brought about against Egyptians' wicked deeds on His people at the beginning chapters of Exodus. You may also refer back earlier to Genesis chapters 43-47 the story about how and why Jacob (Israel) went to Egypt. They went there not empty-handed (Gen 46:6), they were not treated as slaves but honourable guests with rich promise by Pharaoh (Gen 45:17-20, 47:5-6), they have the promise from God to become a great nation (Gen 46:3). I don't see any mysterious revelations constituted to the borrowing of the Egyptians' treasure. Shalom Azure |
