Bible Note: Gbennett76, "I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. Nevertheless you will die like men and fall like any one of the princes." Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations." Psalm 82:6-8 Here is a bit of commentary on this verse... "82:1 rulers. Lit., gods. A reference to the human rulers and judges of the people (also v. 6; see notes on 58:1 and John 10:34)." (1) "82:1 .. among the gods. Some have taken this psalm to be about demons or false pagan gods. The best interpretation is that these "gods" are human leaders, such as judges, kings, legislators, and presidents (cf. Ex. 22:8,9,28; Judg. 5:8,9). God the Great Judge, presides over these lesser judges." (2) "82:6 .."You are gods." Jesus, in quoting this phrase in John 10:34, supported the interpretation that the "gods" were human beings. In a play on words, he claims that if human leaders can be called "gods," certainly the Messiah can be called God." (2) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) Ryrie Study Bible, Expanded Edition, Charles C.
