Bible Question: How do you meditate,I am a newly born again Christian and I keep hearing about meditation but I am not really sure how to do it. Please help |
Bible Answer: There are two words in the Hebrew, siyach and hagah ... and two in the Greek meletao and promeletao. Siyach means to put forth, mediate, muse, commune, speak, complain, ponder, sing ... as in Psalm 77:6 Hagah means to moan, growl, utter, muse, mutter, meditate, devise, plot, speak ... as in Psalm 1:2 Meletao means to care for, attend to carefully, practise to meditate i.e. to devise, contrive. It was used of the Greeks of the meditative pondering and the practice of orators and rhetoricians ... as in 1 Timothy 4:15. Promeletao means to meditate beforehand. (Pro means before, as in prototype.) ... as in Luke 21:14. Source: http://bible1.crosswalk.com/ ... this is a good study tool. An illustration that I have heard it is like a cow chewing its cud, over and over ... it has for stomachs and processes it each time. It is important to not read the Bible as a textbook but as the living word of God, even as a love letter. Take your time read a passage several times so that you gain more understanding and can remember what you read ... even connecting related passages elsewhere. Searcher |
