Bible Question (short): In Psalm 68:13 what is "sheepfolds" ? |
Question (full): In Psalm 68:13 the word translated "sheepfolds" could also mean the "hooks" in the Temple which held the carcasses of the sacrificial animals for flaying (as in Ezekiel 40:43). Then the meaning of the verse might be that the lives lost on the battlefield were lain down sacrificially like the lives of the sacrificial animals. Also, it could apply as a messianic prophecy of Jesus. I don't understand the thinking behind "sheepfolds" or why there is so much confusion about this word among commentators and translations. Is it going too far to interpret this as "hooks" here? What am I missing? I really want to understand this verse and I would sincerely appreciate your help. This is my own question and not any kind of assignment, etc. Thanks! |
