Bible Question: Are the statements, "God loves the sinner but hates the sin" and " Christians are to love the sinner and hate the sin" Biblical ? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Mlabus! As much as the forbidden fruit being an apple! As much as some of the prophets speaking about a "close encounter" with a spaceship! As much as that ole ruse that God helps those who help themselves! As much as the misconception that we are all God's children! Many times what has transpired is that Scripture has been misquoted (i.e.: the root of evil being money--not so, according to Scripture it is the love of money that is the root of evil)... There are Scriptural passages that lend themselves to the origination of your stated query: ...for God so loved the world (John 3:16) or Luke 9:56 or Ezekiel or John 12:47... These statements are not too far from the Truth: Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die... (John 11:25-26) God Bless! Angel |
