Bible Question: I am having trouble understanding the meaning of delight as used in this passage. |
Bible Answer: Greetings! To delight in the Lord means to find satisfaction in Him. Happiness depends upon happenings or circumstances - not all of our experiences are pleasant. But this does not mean that we can not continue to "delight in the Lord" while in the midst of them. As we focus on Who God is (a study of the names of God is a great place to begin) and what He has done for us, we can ALWAYS "delight in Him." In fact, He is the ONLY ONE worth delighting in! Focusing our attention on the desires of our heart, (ie, to be happy as suggested by another post)is to violate the first commandment: "You shall have no other gods before Me." Ex 20:3 Anything we put before God is an idol. I hope this helps. Blessings, mommapbs |
