Subject: I have not seen the righteous forsaken |
Bible Note: I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread. All day long he is gracious and lends, And his descendants are a blessing. NASB Psalm 37:25 'Many of the more than five thousand promises found in Scripture include God's promise to provide for his people's material needs (e.g., Eph 3:20; Phil 4:19). 'Our estimate of our material needs may differ from God's. But all believers may claim God's promises to supply them (though this should not lead to the generalization that no believer will ever be short of bread). 'Some interpret these verses as a promise to those who are charitable and liberal to the poor, that they will never bring themselves to poverty by their charity.' (NRSV Harper Study Bible, Zondervan, 1991). |
