Bible Question:
Very nice bible reference, it itlustrates your point perfectly. What do you think about the hell? I mean, if God does not need us at all, why would he give us such a terrible punishment in case we do something that does not affect him and does not right the wrong?. I mean, the person, if any, who suffered the consecuences of the sin dosent even know the difference if the sinner went to heven or hell. even our prison sistem seems better then hell, because even we understand that humans make mistakes, but also, in time may be able to reconsigse them and fix them, however, God does not give you that chance once we die. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Need of Insight! Like you, many people question the logic/reason of hell and armageddon... You state that even our temporal justice system seems to better God's. Are you sure? Is 1:18-20--what more do you want? Your reasoning is like that of an aquaintance that was suffering for those that will not be written in the Book of Life (Revelation 21:8). He was on the verge of apostasy: He could not reconcile a God of Love committing so many people to the fires of eteranal damnation. I spent many hours searching the Scriptures with him in an effort to liberate his mind from our finite way of thinking. At times we mix up God's words in our minds and we see only that which we desire (remember Israel how they kept the clause about Yahweh's restitution where the sins of the parents would be visited upon the children? But right next to that is God's promise to those who obey (1000 years! of love and protection) why did they not hold fast to that part of the Scriptures? Deuteronomy 30:19-20 does not suggest that we can choose whatever we want; it only suggests that we have the power to choose between life and death. But, clearly, Yahweh wants us to choose life! Hell was made for Satan and his angels--and those who refuse to accept God and His commandments will end up in the same situation. But it is not God's wish that we perish (corporally or spiritually): Ezekiel 18:32. Read Romans 9:19 through 11:32. Ultimately, we are the ones who, by our personal choice, decide where our eternity is going to be: Revelation 16:11 or Revelation 20:4-6. Let me illustrate with temporal values: I have a friend who is a very king man. I've known him for over 10 years. Though not religious he is knowledgeable about Bible and Jesus. He has chosen not to follow the Way; rather, he stays on the outskirts of faith and obedience. He has a problem with alcohol. Throughout the years he has totaled many vehicles, his money, wallet, jacket, watch and other property have been stolen, possibly by those he drinks with. And though he has a good paying job with excellent benefits, a wife, kids, and a house... he continues to befriend the bottle. He is not yet an alcoholic (he has sporadic binges). But regardless of all the risks, regardless of all the wasted time and money, regadless of all the pain he has put his mom, wife and children through his choice is to drink--to exhaustion! He can choose not to drink and enjoy life to the fullest or he can choose to drink and perhaps shortten his life span by decades, cause extreme anguish on his family and run the risk of killing of being killed! His choice is clear: he should choose life! But nothing has been a deterrent to his bouts with alcohol! Do you think that my friend would appreciate me following him around to keep him from drinking too much or to keep him from getting into negative situations? He would not! He would hate me for controlling his life and for censuring his desire to "be free to choose alcohol (death)!" God could treat humanity as puppets, forcing us to do exactly what He wills us to do--would we Love God then and would we submit to His Authority? The other thing God could do is what He has done from the beginning: allow us the freedom to choose Life: to choose Him! God Bless! |
