Subject: Psalm 22 beautiful, sad, amazing |
Bible Note: All of Psalm 22 amazes me! The fact that it was written about 1000 years before Jesus came. Though David's words came by way of the Holy Spirit I have wondered if his life coincided literally (were David's hands pierced? was he publicly mocked and humiliated? or was he responding to a vision of Jesus' crucifixion to come alone and not to events in his own life? or both? Many authors use foreshadowing in the fictional lives of their characters, but the Author of Life...maybe all life cannot help but to point to Him. I think the reason this psalm grabs my heart is that I have not found another verse quite this personal. It is like He is saying ..."See how much this hurts? See how much I love you?" I would like to read how this psalm (22) has affected others if you are willing to share. Also, I wish I could hear how the tune went. My NKJ notes that the tune was entitled "Doe of the morning." Another Psalm (I can't remember which one)was to the tune of "Silent dove from distant land" which just captures my imagination. Thanks, Tonda |
