Bible Question:
Yes, of course. I agree that respect for God is the beginning of wisdom. But the existence of God is not the question, but rather it concerns the manner of living that is demanded by the requirement that it not matter if a God exists or not. That is (for the sake of communicating with my secular friend) if a God exists, how we live would be acceptable to that God, and if not, that also would be acceptable to everyone else. Or, another way to phrase it, is there any way of living that meets this requirement and would this in fact be compatible with how the bible says we should live? Does the biblical approach to life meet this requirement? I hope this clarifies my question. |
Bible Answer: Existence of God may not be the question here, but is it for your friend? Outside of what the bible says there is nothing that exists that would be totaly compatable with what the bible calls for. Isa 55:8 Says our thoughts are not his thoughts, our ways are not his ways (forgive me for the loose paraphrase here.)anyway we cut it here we're gonna come up short.Ro 3:23 Share this with your friend. You might even share Acts 17:26-29. Any way that any of us try to live apart from God is temporary at best. Share this with your friend,it may not be what your friend wants to hear, but it's the best thing you can do for him. He needs God as much as you and I. This is after all what Jesus has called us to do.Matthew 28:19,20. You have a golden opportunity to make a difference in your friends life,Go for it. I hope I'm a little closer to being on the same page with you. In Christ, lionheart |
