NASB | Psalm 122:9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Psalm 122:9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God [which is Jerusalem], I will seek your (the city's) good. |
Bible Question: Who does "your" refer to in this verse? "brothers and friends" of v. 8 and/or Jerusalem (the nation of Israel?) v. 6? |
Bible Answer: It refers to Jerusalem, the Psalmist is praying for the peace of Jerusalem from v.6 to v.9 In v.8 his brothers and friends are those in Jerusalem. For there sake, he wants peace in Jerusalem. But v.9 he refers to Jerusalem, not his brothers and friends (though one can argue they are the same), but be the actual writing of it, use of language, pronouns and proper nouns, etc... He is talking about Jerusalem. |
