Bible Question: is there any passages I could show someone that is consiering suicide |
Bible Answer: tcl, a person on the brink of suicide is a very sick person and needs prompt medical attention to get him "over the hump" so to speak. Yet the underlying cause must be addressed: he also needs spiritual help. He needs Christian love and caring and prayer. And he needs to learn the fundamental truth, as all of us do, that his body is not his, his spirit is not his! They belong to God, both of them. Look to 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 for God's thoughts on this subject. How man deceives himself to think that he, mortal and fallen man that he is, holds the key to life or death. He has no right to decide whether to destroy his own life, because it is not his own and never has been his own: it is God's. ...... How unspeakably wrong for the young woman pregnant with child to think that she owns her body and has the right to have her unborn baby killed at the hands of an abortionist. Ultimately, the Lord Jesus Christ holds the key; He alone is the answer to sin and evil, He alone can atone for sin and give a new birth to the sinner, whether it is contemplated murder by taking one's own life or one's unborn child's life. --Hank |
