AMPLIFIED 2015 | Psalm 1:1 Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). |
Bible Question: What does "stand in the path of sinners" mean? |
Bible Answer: IT MEANS NOT TO DO OR SAY ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE ANOTHER TO SIN, OR KEEP THEM FROM RECEIVING CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOR. PEOPLE LOOK AT OUR LIVES AS CHRISTIANS JUST TO FIND A REASON NOT TO EXCEPT CHRIST. EVEN THOUGH THAT IS A POOR EXCUSE, PEOPLE DO IT ANYWAY. WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL HOW WE LIVE IN FRONT OF SINNERS. MY PASTOR TOLD US THAT WHEN HE WAS YOUNG CHILD HE THOUGHT THAT SCRIPTURE MEANT MAKE SURE YOU WEREN'T STANDING IN THE AISLE OR YOUR FEET WEREN'T IN THE AISLE WHEN A SINNER CAME TO BE SAVED. WE THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY THAT IS HOW CHILDREN THINK SOMEITME. |
