AMPLIFIED 2015 | Job 5:19 "He will rescue you from six troubles; Even in seven, evil will not touch you. |
Bible Question: Tell me exactly what are the 6 troubles. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Praise Leader! Here is what the Bible Knowledge Commentary says about this literary device: ********************************************** The six . . . seven pattern is also used in Job 5:19, and a similar pattern of other numbers plus one is used in Proverbs 30:15-16, 18-19, 21-31. The purpose of this kind of numerical pattern (x and x plus 1) is not to give a complete list. Instead it is to stress the final (x plus 1) item, as the culmination or product of its preceding items. ********************************************** Thus, in Job 5:19, it appears that Eliphaz is simply saying that God will deliver from all troubles. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
