Bible Answer: Hi, Mr... The first mention of money in Scripture is Genesis 17:12, but the oldest is Job 31:39, which far predates even Abraham. Although Satan uses man's love of money (1 Tim 6:10) to cause for us many, many problems, we have no indication that he was responsible for its invention. Neither do we have any explicit indication that it was an invention of man. However, taken altogether, the latter sounds much more reasonable. Remember, money itself is not an issue.
