NASB | Esther 4:14 "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Esther 4:14 "For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father's house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?" |
Bible Question:
What did Mordecai mean when he told Esther for what he said in Esther 4:14. |
Bible Answer: In addition, to the earlier response, I will like to add this: Mordecai was so sure of God's deliverance for the Jews that he knew it was not dependent on any human being. If Esther will refuse to be used of God, God is not handicapped by that. Also, Mordecai meant that Esther will suffer the rewards of disobedience if she refuses to rise up to God's call. Knowing Esther's background and the favor of God in making her queen, Mordecai reminded her that this may be the exact reason for God's goodness to her. Hope I haven't made things more complex! |
