Bible Question:
All bibles have interpreted the X E S found in Rev13.16 to 18 to mean 666. I have found, instead, that the letters X E S describe a characteristic when the number is interpreted to be a VALUE instead of a literal numeral. Basically, the interpretation of the ancient Semitic letters translate into...In servitude to support oneself or... The desire to serve ones own interests. Is this understanding plausible? Bible Answer: God's day to you, John, If you assigned numerical values it would be X (Chi) 600, E (Xi) 60, and S (Sigma) 6 Since the Bible says number (arithmos), not value (timao), I would the value thought. Plus the number relates to six (hex) Hexakosioi - 600 Hexekonta - 66 or 60 Searcher |
