Bible Question: The earthly High Priest entered the Holy of HOlies on the Day of Atonemenet bearing the 12 stones which represented the 12 tribes of Israel before the presence of God - Shekinah Glory. What is the significance of that with Jesus being our great High Priest in the True Tabernacle - does He bear upon His breast His covenant people - Jew and Gentile - before His Father? |
Bible Answer: Revelation 21:12, 19, 20 shows that they represent the reality of the "great and high wall [of New Jerusalem], with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel" which had "foundation stones" which "were adorned with every kind of precious stone," twelve in all. Hence, they illustrate the priestly feature of New Jerusalem, "the bride, the wife of the Lamb."--See 2 Corinthians 11:2; Revelation 1:5, 6; 5:9, 10; 20:6; 21:9. |
